The Universal theme topic for the book this is were it ends is conflict. The conflict can be man-made or natural. If it being man-mad it was not intentional. The man-made conflict would be that Tyler and Autumn father would try to abuse Autumn but Tyler would stand up to him he would get it even worse. According to the text by, "Once he caught Dad's belt on his bare arm to stop it from coming down on me. Afterwards, Tyler cracked a joke and tasseled my hair." and the natural confluct would be that Tyler was born to do this.

The book This Is Were It Ends has different gate icons to compare it to. Such as multiple perspectives. With the main idea woudl we that the story is being told in 4 different perspectives there is a diffeernece in how they think about the conflicted person, Tyler, and the shooting. With his sister Autumn who only wants to stop him from hurting everyone and help him. An exmple is shown on page 72, "Somehoe, I don't think this is what he intended." Autumn means that her dad used to tell her that Tyler is a hunter and will always be but she knows that this isn't him and he is just hurt. Thomas is focused on his sister Sylv who is in gym while he is in the office. As shown on page 69, " Sylvia is in the auditorium. I have to help her. I can't sit back and wait. Not again." Thomas is in the office, not knowing if there is a second shooter, but he is worring about his sister while himself could be in danger. Slyvia is focused on Autumn, who she thinks will be ok because she is strong. Acoording to Slyvia on page 76, " She is so much stronger that people expect. She is not afraid. Not anymore Not like I have been from months now." It could be that Slyv knows that Tyler wont't hurt Autumn but she is afraid he will come ater her. Lastly Claie just does not want to beilive that her ex-boyfriend is capable of any of this.
The imperative used is contribution because what happened to Tyler in his home is part of what challenged him to do what he has done. As stated in the text "Dad didn't bother to get up. He started -or never stopped- drinking last night. These days, he doesn't even try to hide it." And as quoted "Once he caught Dad's belt on his bare arm to stop it from coming down on me. Afterwards, Tyler cracked a joke and tasseled my hair. He is the only real family I have left." The abuse and his father's drinking drove him into a rampage.
The main conflict in the story is Tyler Browne . The important event that is happening is the shooting but the conflict all started with Tyler. Yes he has problems at home but in my opinion that did not affect his reaction to this in anyway. During the shooting he seemed happy while he was murdering kids. The four main character try to figure out a way to stop him and they are trying to know why he would do this. Claire his ex would't believe he would be capable of such a horrific thing but then starts to realize that it could be him and tries to figure out a way to save everyone inside. The conflict is both external and internal because Tyler himself is abusive although he may get this from his father and his mothers accident. As stated on page 64 (Claire), " 'No.' No, there has to another explanation why Jonah is lying dead under Ty's car. His sister borrowed Ty's car. There was an accident. 'Not Ty. It can't be him.' Please.". Autumn was in the auditorium with Tyler and said " He's comfortable with out fear. He's feeding off of it.". Even his own sister knows that he enjoys this rush.
An important scene is when Autumn and Sylvia are in the auditorium when the doors won't open at 10:03 am, then you here a gun shot. This scene is so important because this scene is where everything starts where the character start having flash backs and thinking about how the shooter Tyler. The scene shows the characteristics of a character because the character start realizing things that they would never have, like hoe they feel or know about a person. The plot structure of this scene is takes place in rising action. An explanation for this is "No there has to be another explanation why Jonah is lying dead under Ty's car. His sister borrowed T's car. There was an accident. 'Not Ty. It can't be him.' Please." I think this scene is very important because it is were everything starts.
In the book This Is Where Is Ends by Marieke Nijkamp there are four main characters Claire, Thomas, Autumn, and Sylvia. Claire is the shooters ,Tyler, ex-girlfriend. Thomas and Sylvia are twins and Autumn is Tyler's little sister. Claire is running while the shooting was happening when the heard the gunshots, and Thomas was in the principals office looking at files, Autumn and Sylvia where in the auditorium where Tyler was. Claire Believed that Tyler was not responsible for what was happening because the body of the security guard was under his car and there was weapons in his car. She cites, "No, there has to be another explanation why Jonah is lying dead under Ty's car. There was an accident. Not Ty. It can't be him." (66) Sylvia is going to collage and taking AP classes while Autumn was struggling because her father doesn't wanted her to go to college because her mother had an accident and passed away. Thomas was looking at school files to see if Tyler's criminal record was on his file to see if Sylvia was safe because Tyler didn't like her dating his sister. Thomas states, "So here I am, breaking into school records. To make sure she's safe." |
